History of our company

Our building on Koningspade in Hoogwoud was built in 1962 by Jan and Fien Mooij. During that period, car ownership in the Netherlands increased significantly, which offered new opportunities for entrepreneurs. Jan Mooij had gained experience in automotive technology from a young age. After completing his education, he worked at the family business Gebr. Mooij in Opmeer and followed various mechanic training courses. In 1949, he started working at Mercedes dealer Mol & Blom in Noord-Scharwoude, where he was responsible for the maintenance and sale of passenger cars, trucks, and tractors. Later, he became manager of the branch in Alkmaar.

Together with his wife Fien, he decided to start his own business in 1962. With a 4,000 m² plot of land in the new industrial park in Hoogwoud, Garage Fiejan BV was founded, at the time a modern garage business with a showroom, grease pit, workshop, and gas station.

Father Jan initially wanted to become a Mercedes dealer, but this was not possible due to the regional ambitions of the Mercedes importer. So Fiat, a rapidly growing car brand, was chosen instead. Fiejan became the first Fiat dealer in West Friesland. The company grew to become a well-known address in West Friesland for the sale, repair, and maintenance of cars. The gas station was open from early in the morning until late at night, and the company employed several mechanics and administrative staff.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Fiejan experienced a period of strong growth, but, like other companies, it also faced challenges such as the oil crisis. Despite these circumstances, the workshop remained active and the building continued to be a central location for motorists in the region. In 1980, the company moved to Heerhugowaard and the Hoogwoud branch was closed and sold, after which it served as a supermarket for many years. This remained the case until 2016, when Jan Mooij Jr. established his company Moditech Rescue Solutions in the building. This was done with appropriate pride, given the rich family history at this location.

Following the sale of Moditech Rescue Solutions in February 2024, there was an opportunity to focus entirely on classic cars and two-wheelers. In April 2024, the building was once again given an automotive purpose: Just Move Automotive established itself here and continues to build on the same core values as before: craftsmanship, reliability, and a passion for mobility.

About Jan Mooij & Just Move Automotive

Just Move Automotive B.V. was founded in 2001 by Jan Mooij Jr., initially under the name Moditech Automotive. Jan's passion for cars was instilled in him from an early age. Growing up in his parents' dealership, he learned the ins and outs of the garage business at an early age. He further developed his technical knowledge while studying Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology and Automotive Engineering at HTS in Apeldoorn.

After completing his studies, Jan began his career as Technical Manager Europe at an American manufacturer of straightening benches and electronic measuring systems for auto damage repair. Here, he gained extensive experience in bodywork construction and damage repair and built up a broad network of contacts with car manufacturers. While Moditech Automotive continued to specialise in information provision and repair techniques for damage repair, Jan founded a second company in 2003: Moditech Rescue Solutions. This company provided fire brigades and salvage companies worldwide with crucial information about active and passive safety systems in modern vehicles. It grew into a successful enterprise with more than 2,000 customers in 30 countries.

Following the sale of Moditech Rescue Solutions and the name change from Moditech Automotive to Just Move Automotive in April 2024, the focus is once again entirely on restoring, tuning, and maintaining classic cars, oldtimers, and youngtimers, carried out with the same dedication and craftsmanship that has characterized the Mooij family since 1962.

At Just Move Automotive, our core activities are tuning or overhauling classic cars and vintage cars on commission. This mainly involves technical restorations that restore the engine, drivetrain, suspension, steering, braking system, etc. to perfect condition or even better. All of the customer's requirements and wishes are taken into account. We restore the classic car's handling to its original condition, and often even better. This gives the customer a classic car that can once again keep up with today's traffic, is reliable, and performs optimally.

At Just Move Automotive, we don't just tune and overhaul classic cars. You can also come to us for the 'regular' maintenance of your classic car.
