I smile from ear to ear every time I take my M3 out for a drive!
The third generation M3 is the E46 model, introduced in Europe in 2000. Its powerful 3.2-liter inline-six engine delivers no less than 343 hp. The S54 is one of the best engines BMW has ever built!
You can drive calmly with this very sporty BMW... but once the engine is warmed up and you press the accelerator pedal firmly to the floor, the exhaust starts to screech and you are pushed back into your seat! That is exactly where the Motorsport division distinguishes itself from the normal BMW models.
Compared to the regular E46, the E46 M3 has wider wheel arches and a larger track width. An aluminum hood that is about 40% lighter. And the bumpers are completely different, with large air intake openings at the front for optimal cooling of the engine and brakes.
So with this M3, BMW's statement is very apt: "BMW makes driving great!"
